We have combined the visit of the rainforest of Andasibe located 145 KM east of Tana home of the biggest lemur of Madagascar called indri indri and other diurnal and nocturnal lemurs to the NP of Tsingy of Bemaraha, the limestone pinnacle rock formation located 200 KM north of Morondava. Not to forget the river descent of Tsiribihina where you will immerse yourself along the quiet and relaxing voyage watching people going about their daily life, meeting with the local. You will also see different type of aquatic birds, chameleons, lemurs. We will end up the tour by stopping at the famous avenue of Baobab for a sunset photo.

Below is the tour programme of the western of Madagascar for 13 days.

DAY1: Arrival at the international airport of Tana

Welcoming at the international airport of Tana; meet & greet, then transfer to your hotel.

DAY2: Tana to Andasibe

We will meet you at your hotel after breakfast with your driver and then proceed along the RN2 to the east of Tana. We will stop at Pereyras Reptile Reserve to spot reptiles endemic of Madagascar. This is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing animals!! Lunch in Moramanga after a further 40km of driving. Arrival in Andasibe late in the afternoon. Settle in the hotel. Possibility to go at a night walk to spot the nocturnal lemurs known as the smallest of the lemurs in the world.

DAY3: Analamazaotra or ANDASIBE NP

Morning expedition to encounter the INDRI known as the world's biggest lemurs with its almost invisible tail; we will also see other species of lemurs such as the brown lemur, bamboo lemur, wooly lemur and other animals such as chameleons, giraffe necked weevil...The NP OF Andasibe hosts a lot of animals - 108 species of birds are known in the park. Afternoon visit of the reserve of Vakoana known as the lemurs' island to get very close to lemurs. Overnight at the same hotel.

DAY4: Andasibe to Antsirabe

We will meet you at your hotel after breakfast with your driver and then proceed along the N7 to head to Antsirabe, situated 170km South of Tana. Antsirabe, which means a place of much salt, is famous for its thermal pools which are rich in healing properties. The town attracts many locals and tourists due to its cool climate and location. Antsirabe is also the capital of rickshaws, and THB, the local beer. Be sure to enjoy the taste of a true Malagasy beer whilst here.
An option is to visit the two crater lakes of Andraikiba and Tritriva. Legend says that there were two young lovers forbidden to marry by their parents, so they threw themselves into Tritriva and drowned.

DAY5: Antsirabe to Miandrivazo

This morning, before heading west, we have the option of visiting a famous crystal factory in Antsirabe. The drive west will lead us to the hottest town in Madagascar, Miandrivazo, our starting point of the famous river descent of Tsiribihina.
At Miandrivazo is a great market where you can purchase any last minute items you may need for our river adventure such as; hats, sunscreen or clothes. We will spend the night here before setting out on our river adventure!

DAY5 - 6: River descent

We begin our day on the river after an early breakfast at Miandrivazo, a full day casually canoeing. After an early start, you will be able to relax and immerse yourself in the surroundings. The Tsiribihina River is one of the best places to enjoy the nature, bird life, animals and to observe how the locals go about their daily activity, always happy to see visitors passing by.
Each day will be filled with watching the wonders of birdlife, lemurs, bats, swimming in fresh water pools and waterfalls. You will have the opportunity to try paddling, still the way life and transport on the river after thousands of years. We will meet fishermen who will offer fresh fish and children from the surrounding villages will follow us from time to time running on the riverbank.
Each day we will stop for lunch in beautiful spot and great, healthy meals will be cooked for you. After an afternoon on the river we will set up camp at the side of the river. You will enjoy spectacular sunsets whilst sipping on drinks and snacks, whilst another meal is prepared for you.
Campfire, songs, local stories and laughter, make this river trip an exciting and very special time in a wildly beautiful and remote setting that is so hard to find in the modern world. You will be acclaimed by the local children saying "Salama Vazaha" (hello white people) who are very happy even with so few possessions.

DAY7: River - Antseraraka - Belo

This is our last day of canoeing and at mid day we arrive at Andadoany village where we have the opportunity enjoy cold drink and then continue our trip after lunch with "zebu car" for 1 hour till Antseraraka where a 4WD is picking you and take you till Belo. Overnight at Karibo hotel or similar.

DAY8: Belo - Bekopaka

After breakfast we will head off toward Bekopaka; cross the ferry to the river of Manambolo then transfer to your hotel. After lunch, we will visit the small Tsingy in the afternoon. Check in in your hotel.

DAY9: Visit of the Tsingy

The following morning a 4WD will pick us up & bring us to explore the Tsingy of Bemaraha located 17km north of Bekopaka village. We visit the big Tsingy in the morning, then the small one late in the afternoon.
The Tsingy is also home to a number of different species of lemurs such as Decken's Sifaka, Red Fronted Brown Lemur, Grey Mouse Lemur, and Milne Edward's Sportive Lemur. Abundant bird life includes Coquerel's Coua, Sickle Billed Vanga, White Headed Vanga and many kinds of reptiles. Overnight at the same hotel.

DAY10: Bekopaka - Morondava

Drive back to Morondava, stop at Belo for lunch, cross the ferry again; then continuation of the trip till Morondava by stopping en route for some visits:

Avenue of Baobab for a sunset photos. After the magnificent time at the Avenue of Baobab, we then drive to Morondava for 19 km...

DAY11: Transfer

Transfer at the airport of Morondava to fly back to Tana following your flight schedule, then transfer to your hotel.

DAY12: International airport transfer

Before we transfer you to the international airport of Tana, we will offer a free city tour depending your time. This can be the visit of the King's Palace of Ambohimanga located at 18 Km North of Tana or the Queen's Palace following the shopping time at Galerie Lisy or La Route Digue on the way to the airport.
