The celebration of World Tourism Day went well in Majunga on November 15th. This regional festival was held on the site of Cirque Rouge, a tourist and mythical place located near the Grand Pavois. Like all the world days in other regions, Majunga also respected the prescribed theme: "Tourism and digital transformation".
All national and regional authorities were present, including the financial and technical partners, the representatives of the line ministries, the officials of the German Cooperation Page project, the regional leaders of Boeny Tourism as well as the Ministry of Tourism in Madagascar.
World Tourism Day was an opportunity to highlight the importance of the digital approach to tourism promotion. The advent of digital is a great boon to facilitate the launch of a product, so a region and its tourist wealth. For the province of Majunga, it has all the rights to exploit the digital for its benefit: to show the biodiversity present on the locality, to present the tourist jewels through digital media: Facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. The beauty and authenticity of the tourist sites will also be highlighted by the digital, including the majungais melting pot, the tourist and cultural activities as well as the range of sites which make the reputation of the place (beaches, Cirque Rouge, Bay of Bombetoka, mangrove of Antrema, etc.).
During the event of November 15, the authorities stressed the importance of capacity building for all stakeholders related to tourism: starting with guides, hotels through taxi drivers to small staff to accompany the visitors. These people must know how to handle digital so that they can be aware of information shared by managers, and match their quality of work by what has been said on the media.
