The Grand Pavois La Rochelle event took place in France on September 26th to October 1st. This is the international show afloat covering all themes around nautical and marine activities. Madagascar was among the 35 participating countries and had its exhibition booths showcasing the country's destination and natural wealth
It should be noted that Madagascar was the guest of honor at the boat show. The country was entitled to a special hall in which the visitors could see craft products of the big island, tourist offers by tour operators and unpublished images by the ONTM. All Malagasy products attracted tourists. They were able to see the natural wealth of the country and special offers incomparable to those of other destinations.
Note that Rochelais, inhabitants of La Rochelle, have a special affection for Madagascar. Their ancestors have already crossed and lived on Malagasy soil years ago. The Big Island is therefore omnipresent in their lives and keeps their old way of life. That's why Rochelais are easily attracted by Madagascar. These people intend to visit this destination in order to know the previous life of the ancestors and to immerse themselves in the local life of the Malagasy. This craze of Rochelais does not prevent other French tourists from coming to discover Madagascar. Indeed, the purpose of the event was to target the inhabitants of other regions such as Bordeaux, Brest, Toulouse and Nantes.
During this Grand Pavois boat show, many Rochelais showed their interest in Madagascar. Either they had ancestors living on the big island, or they are naturally attracted by the beauty of the locality. As proof, some of them have certified that they like Madagascar for its incomparable natural wealth. These people have already come to the island and were able to visit interesting regions such as Tuléar and Fort Dauphin. Others have plans to come to Madagascar to know their roots and get in touch with the population. From his testimony, these Rochelais have said that Madagascar was like their second homeland that they intend to promote through a tourist event such as the Grand Pavois boat show.
