During the celebration of International Museum Day, the city of Majunga invited locals to explore the Akiba Museum.
The world has been celebrating the museum since May 18, 1977. This date has always been maintained and encourages all museums around the world to honor it every year. For the city of Majunga, the eyes were fixed on the museum Akiba, a place of preservation which gathers the natural and cultural wealth of the region. During the day, students, researchers and simple visitors were present in large numbers. They regrouped to discover and distinguish the peculiarities of this museum.
It should be noted that this museum is also a center for university research developing the areas of interpretation, supervision and education. When we are there, we can see old photos of the city telling its story from the dawn of time until the 20th century. There are also handcrafted products that make the reputation of the locality and its endemic flora and fauna. Dinosaur fossils discovered in the Majunga Valley and Berivotra are also exposed.
In addition to the museum in Majunga on the road to Amborovy near the entrance to the university campus, all Malagasy spread across the Big Island and even those living abroad have the chance to visit the museum. It has a website of optimal quality. This web page has been created to allow all Malagasy and foreigners to see the treasures kept at the museum. The site presents the main managers composed of doctor, scientists and research manager. Researchers such as botanists, biologists, anthropologists, historians and paleontologists also take care of the museum.
Three main sections are available on this site : activities, programs and partners. Among the activities granted by the museum, there are permanent exhibitions, research works, trainings and events such as debates conferences. In programs, the museum organizes research, studies and museum education reserved for schools. And finally, the "partner" section lists the various national and international partners and sponsors who help the museum. The days and opening hours of the museum are also available on this site.
